hello the city of angeles

after a loooong loooong flight, i finally got LA.
on the airplain a guy next to me talked to me saying "konbanwa." he was a Sansei from Brazil. he said he is working in kansai area right now, and this time he is gonna take 2 years off going back to Brazil. i was asking him bunch of questions since i'm really really interested south american culture right now. it was so fun to talk to somebody who is actually from there. he was 23 years old, just like me, but his whole life was quite different from mine. he said he had to come to japan with his family when he was 15 years old from Brazil in search of work. since then he is working in Japan and sometimes back in Brazil, for 8 years. since 15 YEARS OLD! despite all my negative imagination, he looked really happy, always smiling, he said he really likes Japan.
everything on the airplain was in Portuguese, Spanish, English then sometimes in Japanese. i heard Portuguese and Spanish are really similar language, and yes they are!! but in portuguese thank you is "obrigado." in spanish it's "gracias." so some words are really different.

at the LA airport, i was supposed to call my friend who was picking me up. i'm so stupid, it costed me $2 to remember how to use public phone in America!!! i couldn't understand why the phone call didn't go through until i tried couple of times. ah-ah. oh but i found snapples there, they even have "water-melon" flavor! it was yummy! but too expensive! more than 3 bucks!!

she showed up with her boyfriend, he was really nice, i was so surprised that he was still 20 years old!! wow! lady first country!
we went to santa monica, i realized so many stores are already open on new years day!! so amazing!! and so many people were hanging around!!

then we all went to my friend's house in West LA, spent a great time. later her friend showed up and we all had yummy sukiyaki!!

it was a strange experience spending new years day for 2 days both in Japan and America. my school is starting on 3rd. i'm so excited!
