no soy genia.

it still takes me doubled or tripled time to understand my spanish class compared to my classmates. mostly because i'm not smart but also because i get 10 times slower when i try to think something in english!! aa!!

anyway, but i'm still enjoying my spanish class, everytime i talk to mi profesora de clase espanol, my spanish teacher, i feel like there are still so many things i don't notice about.

the other day, we were talking about why japanese community is so small compared to chinese or korean. we still have small japanese community like little tokyo which is really really little(small) or sawtelle, but compared to the huge korea town or china town, you can't call it as "japan town."
my teacher is japanese-american, 3rd generation. she said she had to talk in english at home when she was little, even though her dad didn't speak good english and her parents used to talk in japanese. so she doesn't speak japanese fluent. she said she speaks spanish better than japanese. like her family, and also lots of japanese students including me, japanese people don't really like to be "different from others" or "stand out in the group." so her theory is because japanese people hate to be outstanding in any situation, we try to be same as others, like japanese students here tend to prefer to have american friends than japanese ones in classes(at least from my experience), also japanese parents let children go hang out with other american friends etc. also our lack of religious belief might be one of the biggest reasons too( like we dont have community to get together), but still i guess its japanese nationality. like if i talk to one of my chinese friends about the teacher i'm taking right now, they give me bunch of information of that class, because they already have a huge network of chinese people at my college. they always take classes together, study together, helping each other.

so i'm still complaining! yeah i should go study!
